Home Groups are the very centre of church life here at St Cuthbert’s.
A Home Group is a small group of 8-12 people that meet regularly in someone's home. These groups are modeled after the Biblical pattern of small groups found in Acts 2:42-47. There are six primary things that take place in a Home Group: Worship, Biblical teaching, prayer, discussion, service, and fellowship.
All our Home Groups have an open door policy and love to welcome new people. We would encourage you to visit a couple of Home Groups to find out which one suits you.

On Sunday after 15 minutes of family worship in church our young people go into their own groups: The under 4’s can be taken to our crèche room where they will be welcomed and looked after - they will have a range of toys and activities, worship songs and craft which is on the same theme as Kidz Church. Those aged 4-11 race across to the hall for Kidz Church. The kidz enjoy a wide range of activities which regularly include painting, cooking, crafts, word-searches, colouring and games before watching a video clip, puppet show, drama sketch or listening to a Bible passage (read by the kids) - all of which develop the theme for the week. We have our own time of praise and worship - our favourite song at the moment is “Let me be your eyes Lord Jesus” listen - if you are feeling energetic come and join us ! We then split into 4 groups for age related work - Preschool & Reception, Yr1 & Yr2, Yr3 & Yr4, Yr5 & Yr6. We use a teaching resource called Light from Scripture Union - the material provides a great range of activities to develop the theme for the week. Each week we work with around 35 children aged 4-11 having a great time and at the same time learning about Jesus. Our aim is to build relationships with the kids and provide a fun environment in which they can learn about Jesus and build their own relationships with each other and with him. “My highlight of the year was a week when church over ran and we had to fill extra time - so we had another worship time - it was a warm day and the windows were open as the parents left the church they looked in to see a sea of children singing and praising God - they just stood and enjoyed”
At St Cuthbert’s we have a vibrant and growing community of young people. We offer a youth session during the 11am Sunday service, a Friday night youth group, fantastic socials and a young men's group (13-18) and a young women's group (13-18). During the 11am Services we run a Sunday Youth session for youth from School Year 7 to Sixth Form age, 18. These sessions give youth a chance to ask questions, debate and learn about Jesus and how following him impacts our lives - as well as enjoy some games, food, prayer, worship and fellowship.
Throughout the year there are opportunities to engage in Socials: playing sport, going to concerts, outdoor activities and more. We’re always looking for new and exciting things to do. Some activities coming up include: laser quest, bowling and ice skating.
The Monkey Bar: is our Friday night drop in youth cafe. It is a place for young people to hang out and chill whilst helping to run the cafe. The cafe is open in the Church Hall on Friday nights between 8pm and 9.30pm. For ages 11-18.

The Men at St Cuthbert's are as diverse as the Women's Group. A lot of our activities are based around food!
- The second Saturday Morning of the month the Men will meet up for a Men's Breakfast - a highly cholesterol charged Fried Breakfast. At 9:30am we meet together for breakfast and hear a talk or presentation on a wide range of matters - recently we have heard about Christian masculinity, work, sexual integrity.
- Occasionally the men will be seen taking the children out bowling or for a meal.
- Every term we plan a meal out for just the men usually to a Curry House of good repute to have a good laugh and get to know each other better.
For more details call Lionel on 8423 2671.
The women of St Cuthbert’s are a friendly group and love to see newcomers join us. We are women of all ages and stages, and we meet for a variety of activities.
Monthly there is a Saturday breakfast: sometimes with worship and a talk, sometimes with craft activities. These mornings are really therapeutic and we have a lovely time learning, chatting and relaxing together. Each year we have a day out in March to the New Wine Women's Day and in May have an annual St Cuth's Women's Day retreat, with fabulous worship, teaching, fun, food and fellowship. Joyce Brown and Sarah McDermott lead a women's daytime home group which meets each Wednesday morning to learn and grow together and to pray for and support one another. Every woman is welcome to join us in any or all that we do. If you would like to know more about what's going on at the moment, please do call Sarah on 020 8904 7657. |
